Forget everything you thought you knew about knitting scarves. This one starts from the center — not the edge — with a simple i-cord you pick up stitches from and knit outward in two directions.
This isn't the kind of scarf where you knit the same eight stitches a thousand times over. The color changes keep things moving the whole way through, and the garter ridges make the intarsia easy — no charts required.
The result is bold, graphic, and completely yours: pick three or four colors you love, throw in one you secretly think is ugly, and watch it pull the whole thing together in a way you didn't expect. It's the perfect project for using up those small, stubborn leftover balls that never seem to fit anywhere else — and it's just as satisfying to knit as it is to wear.
Want it soft and fuzzy, or firm and structured? A quick wash and a spin in the dryer lets you decide — pure wool will felt slightly and mellow into something wonderfully cozy.
